CURRENT MUSIC PRODUCTION PROCESS WITH NEW TECHNOLOGY

Artificial intelligence and machine learning are rapidly evolving and reshaping various music streaming platforms. Streaming services leverage AI to expand storage capacities, enhance search algorithms, and improve overall user experience. Initially employed for detecting musical preferences and providing recommendations, these technologies are now being utilized to create music itself. While it may seem astonishing, the concept of artificial intelligence composing music is gaining traction, marking a significant shift in the capabilities of these platforms.

Artificial intelligence can recognize successful songs, typically more appealing to the audience, establishing patterns for what would be considered an accepted melody in society in terms of recurring feelings and themes in popular music. Moreover, it is employed to enhance the mixing and mastering of music tracks, reducing noise and improving audio quality.

This technology is not confined to software; it is also incorporated into musical instruments such as keyboards, guitars, and electronic drums, expanding sound possibilities. Furthermore, AI is used in the field of music education, assisting in singing lessons, instrument training, and music theory.

According to various estimates, in the next decade, between 20% and 30% of the top hits will be partially or entirely written with machine learning software. Nowadays, due to the technological revolution, common studios have a better production capacity than when the Beatles released their first album.

In addition to exploring how AI algorithms can be used to compose original music, spanning genres such as classical and pop, technology plays a crucial role in searching databases, analyzing audio, and recognizing musical patterns. This includes identifying chords, melodies, and rhythms.

VOCALOID 6

Deepfake vocal clones of famous artists have sparked mixed feelings in the music industry. However, deep down, the same advances are helping to push vocal synthesis into new territory.

Trying to build a human voice with a computer is nothing new. A singing synthesizer like the VOCALOID6 has a history dating back to the 2000s, and in its most recent iteration it has begun using AI to improve the synthesized voice instrument. You can type the letters, select the tone and adjust the accent. You can sing in Japanese and English and, from 2023, Chinese too.

The widespread integration of AI in the music industry marks a transformative era. These AI-based tools not only expedite time-consuming processes like mixing but also empower artists, particularly newcomers, by providing affordable personalized solutions. While concerns linger among traditionalists about the potential erosion of the human touch in music composition, the benefits of AI in terms of efficiency, creativity, and accessibility are undeniable.

The technology offers not only time savings for established professionals but also opens up advanced and customized services that were once exclusive to those with access to record labels. As the music industry continues to evolve, the symbiotic relationship between human creativity and AI innovation presents a promising landscape for the future of music production.

However, amid the promising landscape of AI in music production, it is crucial to consider the potential negative implications. The fear among musical composers of AI entirely replacing human involvement raises questions about the authenticity and emotional depth of music. As technology advances, striking a balance between the efficiency AI brings and preserving the unique human expression in music becomes a critical challenge for the industry. The ongoing discourse around these implications underscores the need for thoughtful consideration and ethical use of AI to ensure that, while leveraging its advantages, we do not compromise the essence of musical artistry.
